Budget 2026 Date and Time

Budget 2026 Date and Time

If you’ve been scrolling through the news lately, you know the buzz: the Union Budget 2026 is landing tomorrow. And for the first time in a long while, we’re getting a Sunday Budget on February 1st.

Usually, Sundays are for relaxing, but at 11:00 AM tomorrow, most of us will be glued to our screens. Why? Because Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is about to drop her 9th consecutive budget, and the stakes feel higher than ever.

As someone who spends way too much time tracking fiscal policies, I’ve broken down what you actually need to know without the boring jargon.

The Logistics: Where & When to Watch

Date: Sunday, Feb 1, 2026

Time: 11:00 AM IST

Where to watch: Don’t overthink it. Just tune into Sansad TV or DD News. If you're on the move, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) YouTube channel is your best friend for a lag-free stream.

Why Should You Care?

Look, budgets can feel like a lot of big numbers that don’t affect us, but this year is different. We are looking at a roadmap for "Viksit Bharat," and here is what my "expert gut" says we should watch out for:

1. The Income Tax "Breadcrumbs"

Every year we hope for it, but 2026 might actually deliver. There’s a lot of talk about increasing the Standard Deduction. If it moves from ₹75,000 to ₹1,00,000, that’s more money in your pocket for your EMIs or that vacation you've been planning.

2. The New Tax Regime Push

The government clearly wants us to move to the New Tax Regime. Expect more "carrots" (incentives) to make that switch even more attractive for middle-income earners.

3. Infrastructure & Your Commute

Expect heavy spending on Railways and Green Energy. If you’ve seen more Vande Bharat trains lately, this budget is likely to double down on making your daily commute faster and tech-heavy.

How to Read the Budget Like a Pro

When the speech starts at 11 AM, don't get distracted by the initial political talk. Wait for the "Part B" of the speech. That’s where the actual tax changes and price hikes/drops are hidden.

Pro Tip: If you want the raw data without the commentary, head over to the India Budget Portal right after the speech to download the "Budget at a Glance" PDF.

Final Thoughts

Whether you are a salaried professional, a small business owner, or just someone trying to manage a household budget, tomorrow is the day the "rules of the game" get updated.
