Axar Patel Consoles David Miller After Delhi’s 1-Run Loss vs Gujarat Titans | IPL 2026 Drama

New Delhi: Axar Patel showcased remarkable sportsmanship towards David Miller in what turned out to be one of the most emotional moments of IPL 2026. Although Delhi Capitals was defeated by one run by Gujarat Titans, it was the post match gesture of Axar that attracted a lot of attention.

With Prasidh Krishna on the last ball, Miller tried a big shot and did not take a single ball but was fooled by a slower bouncer. Desperate, he made a run, but was chased away by a direct hit by Jos Buttler. Delhi finally scored 209/8, which was one short of the 210/4 of Gujarat.

Immediately after the match, a visibly distressed Miller was comforted by captain Axar Patel. Axar came to his side, shook his hand, and put his arm around his shoulder, giving him a word of encouragement. The move was indicative of the real leadership style and one of the onlookers said that it was a gesture of a captain consoling his player after a valiant effort.

Previously in the game, Gujarat Titans were propelled by a half-century by Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler, and Washington Sundar. In the case of Delhi, KL Rahul had 92 (fluent), Pathum Nissaka, 41, but Rashid Khan changed the game with breakthroughs.

With 36 to go in the last two overs, Delhi was apparently out of the game but Miller revived the hopes with a late attack which included a huge 106-meter six. He hit 23 off Mohammed Siraj in the last over to take the game to the wire, but failed.
